Tagging people in your Facebook posts, photos, or videos is easy whether you’re using the mobile app or Facebook on a computer. You can tag people in posts, pictures, and comments.
Note: In posts and pictures, you can only tag people that are on your friend’s list. However, in the comments, you can tag anyone. Also, you can not tag someone that has disabled the feature of being tagged in their privacy.
When you tag someone:
- They receive a notification that they’ve been tagged.
- The posts they’re tagged in will appear on their timeline, where their friends can see them.
Tagging Someone on Facebook on iPhone or Android
Open the Facebook app, and tap on What’s on your mind? to start creating a post.
Select Tag people to see a list of friends to tag in your post.
Tick the box next to the person’s name you want to tag. You can also search for someone separately if you cannot find their name on the list.
If you want to tag someone in a picture, first add the image to the post and then tap on the Edit button on the picture.
Select the person icon on the top and tap the location on the picture where you want to tag that person.
From the list of friends, select the one you want to tag and select Done.
If you want to tag someone in a comment, open the comments section of a post, type @ and then the person’s name. From the list of names, tap on the person you want to tag.
Tagging Someone on Facebook on a computer
Start writing your post by clicking on What’s on your mind? on your account’s homepage.
Now, click on the person icon below your post to see a list of friends to tag.
From this list, you can select up to 50 friends you want to tag. If you cannot see the person, you want to tag, write their name in the search bar and click Done.
If you want to tag someone in a picture, click on the Edit option on the picture.
Select the Tag photo, the third option on the left menu. Click on a location on the picture where you want to tag your friend. From the drop-down list, select the person you want to tag and select Save.
If you want to tag someone in the comments of a post, go to any post’s comment section, type @, and then their name. From the list, select who you want to tag!
