How to Bypass Windows 11 Login Page (If You Lost Your Password)

If you don’t remember your Windows 11 login page password, you’ll be stuck and unable to log in. There are several options to bypass the Windows 11 login page when you’ve lost your password. Read on to find out how.

Answering Security Questions

This method only works if you previously set and can still remember your security questions.

  1. Switch on your computer. Enter anything in the Password field and press Enter.
  2. Now, click Reset Password.

Logging into your Microsoft Account

You can follow this method if your Windows 11 account is linked to your Microsoft account.

  1. Go to Microsoft’s password reset page. Enter your Microsoft account email or phone number.

Using Command Prompt

You can use this method if you have another account on the same computer with administrative privileges.

  1. Login to the account that has administrator privileges.
  2. Press Windows + R to open the Run command. Type cmd and press Enter.

    net user accountname newpassword

    Replace accountname with your Windows account name and newpassword with the new password you want to set for your account.

  1. Click the Power symbol in the bottom-right of the sign-in screen. Next, while holding down the Shift key, select Restart. Your PC will start up in the Windows Recovery Environment.

Using a Password Reset Disk or USB Flash Drive

You can only use this method if you have already created a password reset drive or disk.

  1. Insert the password reset disc or flash drive onto your computer and turn your PC on.
  2. Once on the login screen, type anything in the Password field and hit Enter.
  3. Now, click on Reset password.

Bypass Windows 11 Login Page by Resetting your Computer

You can use this method if you don’t mind resetting your computer and already have important files backed up.

  1. On your login screen, click on the Power icon. Next, hold the Shift key and click on Restart.

  2. You will see Choose an option. Select Troubleshoot, then select Advanced options.

  6. Finally, click the Reset option. After your computer resets, you’ll be able to log in without a password.
