The javascript:void(0) error can be frustrating when you’re trying to open a webpage. This error occurs when there’s an issue with the Javascript programming language. It could be because your browser doesn’t have JavaScript enabled or because cache and cookies are causing problems.
Whatever the reason, this guide provides several solutions that should help you fix the javascript:void(0) error so that you can continue browsing the web without interruption.
Ensure that the Javascript is installed on your computer
Some internet applications and web pages won’t work if you don’t have Javascript installed on your computer. In this case, you need to check if you have Javascript installed on your computer.
- Open Control Panel.
- Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.
- Scroll through the list and look for an entry called “Java.” If you see this entry, then javascript is installed on your computer. If you don’t see this entry, then you will need to download and install javascript.
Hint: If you have Javascript installed, I recommend deleting the program and reinstalling it to make sure that it is running correctly.
- To uninstall Javascript, locate the entry called “Java” in the list of installed programs, right-click it and select Uninstall. Follow the prompts to remove the Javascript software from your computer.
- Go to the Java website and download the latest version of Javascript.
- Once the file has been downloaded, run the installation program and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process.
- When Javascript is installed on your computer, you can return to the web pages and applications that were giving you trouble earlier, and they should now be working properly.
Ensure that the Scripting of Java Applets is enabled
- Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box. Type “INETCPL.CPL” and press Enter.
- Click the Security tab. Under the Security level for this zone section, press Custom level.
- Ensure that the Scripting of Java applets option is set to Enable, then click OK for the changes to take effect.
Enable Javascript on your browser

Refresh the page by bypassing the cache
When you refresh a web page ignoring its cache, this can refresh corrupted files on the page, fixing Javascript errors.
To do this, hold down the Ctrl key and press F5. You can also hold down the Shift key and click the reload button on your browser.
Cookie and cache are data stored on your computer by the browser. These files are used to make browsing websites faster and more efficient. However, sometimes these files can become corrupted and cause Javascript errors. In this case, you need to clear these files.
