Have you ever wanted to add your teammates to a channel so you can talk to them all in one place? Channels are a great way to organize your team into groups, but sometimes you want to speak to all members at once.
An example of when this is useful is sharing customer feedback within a group – that is when you want to ensure that everyone in the company is part of that channel. You can add everyone to the same Slack channel with just a few steps.
How to add someone to a Slack channel
On a computer
First, let’s take a look at how to add someone new to a Slack Channel.
- Go to Slack and open your workspace by clicking Launch Slack.
- Click Use Slack in your browser to proceed to your workspace using a web browser.
- Select the channel you want to invite people.
- Click on the people icon on the top right channel window.
- Select Add people to invite new members to your channel.
- To invite people already in your workspace, type in their name, check the radio box next to their name then select Add.
- To add new members to your channel, type in their Slack email addresses separated by a comma. You can add as many people as you like. After that, click Add.
- Next, select if the people you’re adding are your coworkers or from another company. Then click Next.
- Slack will ask for your permission to send invitations to new members. Click Send Invitation.
- Slack will notify you that they have sent the invitations to the members. Click Done to complete.
11. New members will appear in the “Direct Messages” section or are shown as new people icons in the top right corner of the channel window.
On Android or iPhone
To add people to a Slack channel on Android or iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open the Slack app and log in to your Slack account.
- Launch your workspace and from the channel list, select the channel you would like to add new members.
- Tap on the channel name to open the channel. Then select Add people to invite new members.
- To invite people already in the workspace, type in their name and check the box next to their name. Then, select Add on the top right corner to ask them into the workspace.
- To add new members to the channel, type in their Slack email addresses separated by a comma. Also, check the box next to the email. After that, click Add. You can add as many people as you like.
- Slack will confirm sending the invitation. Click Done.
- To view the newly invited members, go to the channel and click on Add people icon.

Channel Tools makes it simple to add numerous users to a Slack channel at once. It also allows you to export all channel members into a CSV file.
How to set up Channel Tools in a Slack channel

- Click on the drop-down icon next to your workspace name.
- Head over to Settings & administration.
- Click Manage apps to add a new app.
- In the search bar on the next page, type in “Channel Tools” and select the corresponding app.
- Click Add to Slack.
- Grant Channel Tools permission to access your workspace by clicking Allow.
- Slack will redirect you to Channel Tools. Click open this link in your browser.

in the message section.

- Click on the paper plane icon to send the message. Channel Tools now has permission to import or export people into the channel.
How to use Channel Tools to add all members of Slack workspace to a new channel
- Select the channel you would like to import people to.
- Type in the command
/invite_all
to add all the workspace members to your channel in the message section. Then, click on the paper plane icon to send the message.
- Confirm you are inviting all workspace members to your channel by selecting Yes, invite all members.
- Choose if you want to add workspace bot users to your channel by selecting Yes or No.
- Channel Tools will confirm inviting all the workspace members to your channel. Click Done.
How to add members of one Slack channel to another channel
- If you want to import members from an old channel into a new channel, type
/invite_channel #old_channel
in your new channel message section. Then, send the message.
- Next, grant Channel Tools access to import new members from another channel by clicking Yes, invite all members.
- Channel Tools will confirm importing members from the old channel to the new one. Click Done to complete the import.
- The newly invited member will now be available on a new channel.
