Like other browsers, Safari stores your browsing activity in a History tab. While this can be beneficial, for example, if you forgot the URL of a recent website you visited, you might want to delete your browsing history for privacy reasons occasionally. This guide will show you easy ways to delete your browsing history on Safari on Mac and iPhone.
Clear Safari History on Mac
Clearing history for a specific period
- Launch Safari on your Mac.
- Once the browser is open, the menu bar located at the top of your screen will also change providing you with Safari-specific options. Click on History.
- This will open up a drop-down menu. Select Clear History… at the bottom.
- On the dialogue box that appears select the history period that you would like to erase. If you would like to erase your entire browsing history, select the all History option.
- Click Clear History and your history will be deleted for your selected time period!
Clearing a specific URL from your history
If you only want to delete specific links from Safari’s history, follow these steps:
- Launch Safari.
- On the menu bar select History.
- Select Show All History from the dropdown menu.
- Locate the URL you want deleted, right-click on it and select Delete.

Note: Deleting history data from the Safari browser also deletes the same from
across all devices synced to it via iCloud.

- On your phone or tablet, open the Settings app.

Clearing a specific URL from your history
To delete a specific page from your iPhone’s Safari browser these are the steps you need to follow.

- Launch the Safari app on your phone.
- Tap on the Bookmark icon at the bottom of your screen.
- Tap on the clock icon located on the extreme right of the page to reveal history.
- Search for the relevant URL or scroll down to locate it.
- Tap on the link and scroll down to reveal the delete function.
