When too many apps are running in the background, your iPhone can become slow. And let’s not forget how frustrating it can be when an app or game gets stuck and doesn’t respond.
There are two ways to close apps on your iPhone, depending on what model you’re using. The screenshots in this article were taken on iOS 15.3.1.
How to Close Apps on iPhone X or Above
- More recent iPhone models don’t have a “Home” button. Instead, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see all the currently running apps.
- Swipe through the apps and look for the one you want to close.
- Once you’ve found the app you want to close, swipe up on it until it disappears from the screen.
- After closing the apps, tap anywhere around the floating apps to return to the home screen.
How to Close Apps on iPhone 8 or Below
Closing apps on iPhone 8 or below requires the same steps as above. The only difference is that you have to press the home button twice to open the app switcher, i.e., the screen where you can see all the currently running apps.
Once you’re done closing the apps, you can tap on the screen or press the home button to go back to the home screen.
