How to Connect AirPods to Zoom

With remote working and online studying becoming ever more popular, many people are using Zoom to communicate. AirPods have excellent sound quality and, being wireless, are great earphones to use with Zoom.

Connecting your AirPods to Zoom takes only a few seconds and can be done on Zoom’s settings. The guide below was performed on a Mac, but you can also follow these steps on a Windows PC.

Connect your AirPods to Zoom on Mac or PC

Step 1: Connect your AirPods to your Mac

  1. Open the AirPods case and click the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar.

  2. If this is your first time connecting your AirPods to your Mac or PC, you’ll have to pair the devices first. With the lid open, press and hold the button on the AirPods’ case until the light changes from orange/amber to white. Click on Bluetooth Preferences.

  3. The AirPods will show up under the “Devices” list. Click Connect to pair the AirPods to your system.

    Click Connect.

    If you’ve already paired your AirPods with your device, all you have to do is wear them.

    Note: Your AirPods will connect to the nearest iOS or Mac device.

Step 2: Configure AirPods within Zoom

  1. After opening Zoom, click on the gear icon in the top-right to open settings.

  2. Click Audio.

  3. Under the “Speaker” section, click on the drop-down menu next to Test Speaker.

  4. Select your AirPods in the drop-down menu.

    Click on your AirPods in the list.

  5. To test your AirPods, click Test Speaker. If you hear a sound, your AirPods have been connected to Zoom.

  6. You also want to make sure Zoom uses the mic on your AirPods. Under the “Microphone” settings, click the drop-down next to “Test Mic” and select your AirPods.

  7. Click Test Mic to confirm your AirPods mic has been connected to Zoom.

Connect your AirPods to Zoom on iPhone

You don’t have to configure the settings on your phone on Zoom and there is no way to change the source of audio on the app. Once you pair and connect your AirPods to your phone, they’ll automatically connect to Zoom.
