Tired of people texting you in the middle of the night while you’re trying to sleep? Even with the phone on mute, the screen lights up when you get a notification which can be annoying.

The “Do Not Disturb” mode on the iPhone can help you disconnect from the online world, by silencing all audio and visual notifications. There are two main ways to turn on the “Do Not Disturb” mode. The steps in this article were taken on iOS 15.3.1.

Using the Settings App

  1. Open the “Settings” app.

  3. Tap Do Not Disturb.

  4. Once you’ve adjusted the settings according to your preferences, enable Do Not Disturb by turning the toggle to the right.

  5. You can also schedule it so that it turns on automatically at a time you specify.

Using the Control Center

  1. Swipe down from the top right corner to open “Control Center”.

  2. Tap Focus. On iOS 14 or earlier, there is a crescent moon icon instead of the “Focus” button.

  4. If you tap the three dots, you can change the duration of the “Do Not Disturb” mode.
