For recent iPhone models like the iPhone 8, iPhone SE, iPhone X, iPhone Xs, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13, follow these steps to soft reset your phone:
- Press and release the volume up button
- Press and release the volume down button
- Hold down the side button until the Apple logo appears then you can release the button.
For older models like the iPhone 6s or iPhone SE, follow these steps instead:
- Press down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously.
- Release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons when the logo appears.
After soft resetting, your phone will restart which can fix many common issues. If you still have to, you can try factory resetting your phone instead.
