You can move photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos to sync them across multiple devices.
The photos you move to Google Photos must be larger than 256 pixels and smaller than 150 megapixels. A single photo must not exceed 200 MB in size, and should be in .jpg, .gif, .webp, .tiff, .heic, .png or .raw file format.
Videos uploaded to Google Photos must be less than 10 GB in size, and must be in .mpg, .mod, .mmv, .tod, .wmv, .asf, .avi, .divx, .mov, .m4v, .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .m2t, .m2ts, .mts, or .mkv file format.
There are two ways to move photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos.
On desktop (computer)
You can upload photos and videos to Google Photos from Google Drive using the web version. Here’s how:
- On your PC (or Mac), go to Google Photos.
- In the upper-right corner, click on the Upload button.
- Select Google Drive from the drop-down menu.
- Navigate to the photos and videos you want to move, and select them.
- Click Upload.
The photos you move to Google Photos must be larger than 256 pixels and in either .jpg, .gif, .webp, .tiff, or .raw file format.
On the mobile app
You can also move photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos from your mobile. To do so, follow these steps:
- Open the Drive app.
- Navigate to the folder where the photos and videos are stored.
- Select the photos and videos you want to move, and tap the three dots on the sscreen’supper-right corner.
- Tap Download.
Google Drive will download the selected photos and videos to your mobile. You can check the download progress from the notification panel. Once downloaded, you need to upload the photos and videos to Google Photos. HHere’show:
- Open the Google Photos app.
- Tap on Library.
- In the Photos on device section, tap on View all.
- Navigate to the Download album.
- Select the photos and videos that you downloaded from Google Drive.
- Tap the three dots on the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Select Back up now.
