Instead of downloading a YouTube video to your computer and then manually uploading it to Google Drive, you can save a YouTube video directly to Google Drive.
Save a YouTube video to Google Drive using an extension
This method works by using the Save to Google Drive Chrome extension. All you have to do is generate the download link of the YouTube video using any online YouTube video downloader and then save the YouTube video directly to Google Drive using this extension.
Some of the online Youtube video downloaders that you can use are:
Install the Save to Google Drive extension
- On Google Chrome, go to the Save to Google Drive extension page.
- Click Add to Chrome, and then click Add extension in the pop-up dialog box.
- Once the extension is added, click the jigsaw puzzle icon on the top-right corner of the Chrome window.
- Next to the Save to Google Drive extension, click the three dots and select Options from the drop-down menu.
- Click Change destination folder and select the folder where you want to save YouTube videos.
Save the video directly to Google Drive
Next, you need to use an Online YouTube Video Downloader to save the video directly to Google Drive.
- Right-click the YouTube video you want to save and click Copy video URL from the drop-down menu.
- Go to any one of the online YouTube video downloaders we mentioned above and paste the link.
- Click Download.
- Once the download link is processed, right-click the Download button and select Save Link to Google Drive from the drop-down menu.
- In the new window, wait for the video to be saved to Google Drive.
- You can rename the YouTube video by clicking Rename.
- Finally, click Close.
Now the YouTube video will be saved to Google Drive.
Save a YouTube video to Google Drive using the Google Drive desktop
If you have downloaded and set up Drive for Desktop, then saving a YouTube video directly to Google Drive is very simple. Follow along:
- Right-click the YouTube video you want to save and click Copy video URL from the drop-down menu.
- Next, head over to any one of the online YouTube video downloaders we have mentioned above and press the Ctrl + V keys (Command + V on macOS) to paste the video URL.
- Click Download.
4. Once the download link is processed, right-click the Download button and select Save Link As from the drop-down menu.
5. In the new window, navigate to This PC > Google Drive > My Drive on Windows and open the folder where you want to save the YouTube video. Similarly, if you’re using macOS, then head over to Finder > Google Drive > My Drive and open the YouTube video’s destination folder.
