Apple Pay is a digital wallet native to the Apple ecosystem. If you own an iPhone, Apple Pay is one of the fastest and safest payment methods. All you have to do is tap your device against the register to pay – there’s no need to take out your credit card or cash.
Setting up Apple Pay is easy and can be done from the Wallet app. Once you’ve set it up, you can use it in stores and online. Follow the steps below to set it up and use it on your iPhone.
Set Up Apple Pay on iPhone With the Wallet App
- Open the Wallet app.
- Tap the “Plus” (+) icon in the top-right corner.
- You can add a card manually or scan the card and enter all the details automatically.
- Authorize the card by following on-screen instructions. These instructions will vary depending on what card you’ve added. Note: Some banks require you to call them to have the card authorized for Apple Pay.
Using Apple Pay on iPhone
For iPhones with Face ID, hold it close to the register or payment terminal and press the side button twice. It may ask you to authenticate the transaction with Face ID. For iPhones with Touch ID, press the Home button twice and enter the passcode if prompted.
Make sure the iPhone stays near the terminal until the transaction is complete. A checkmark will appear on your device’s screen once the transaction has been approved.
You can also use Apple Pay online by pressing the side button twice (if your iPhone has Face ID) or pressing the Home button twice (if your iPhone has Touch ID) on the checkout screen.
