Turning off a PS5 controller is easy. It can be done from the PS5 dashboard, settings, or using the controller itself. This feature comes in handy when Player Two is away, and you want to save battery life on their controller. Here is how to turn off a PS5 controller:
Turn Off PS5 Controller Physically
Press and hold the PS button on the controller for around 10-15 seconds. The lights on the controller will go out, indicating it has turned off.
Turn Off PS5 Controller from the Dashboard
- On the main PS5 screen, press the PS button on the controller to bring up the dashboard
- Navigate to the Accessories Option on the dashboard. It’s the third option from the right.
- Select the Accessories icon to display all attached accessories
- Select the Wireless Controller to bring up the submenu.
- Select Turn Off on the menu to completely shut down your controller.
- You won’t be able to use the controller until you turn it on by pressing the PS button on it.
Turn Off PS5 Controller from Settings
- Select the Settings icon on the top right.
- Navigate to the Accessories settings
- In General, select Turn Off Accessories.
- All connected accessories, including any controllers, will be displayed here
- Select the controller you want to turn off
- The controller will shut down
