How to Turn Off iPhone Using the Side Buttons

If you’re using an iPhone that has Face ID (iPhone X and above), you can turn off your device by pressing and holding the side button and one of the volume buttons at the same time until the Power Off slider comes on the screen.

On older devices that have the home button (iPhone SE 2nd Generation or 8 and below), press and hold the side button until the Power Off slider appears on the screen.

On the iPhone SE 1st Generation or 5 and below, press and hold the button on top of your device (the Sleep/Wake button) until the Power Off slider appears. You can also force restart the device by holding the home button and the top button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
