How to Upload Audio to Google Drive

This guide shows you several ways you can upload audio to Google Drive using the web, desktop, and mobile versions of the app.

Uploading audio to Google Drive web

You can upload audio files to Google Drive’s web version using two methods:

1. Dragging-and-dropping files

Drag and drop audio file into Google Drive
Use the drag-and-drop method to upload audio files.
  1. Open the Drive folder to which you want to upload the audio files.
  2. Open the folder on your computer which contains the audio files.
  3. Drag and drop the audio file(s) from the computer into the Drive folder.

Once the files are uploaded, you will get a notification on the bottom-right of your browser.

2. Manually uploading files

  1. Click the New button on the top-left corner of your Drive webpage.
  2. Select File upload from the drop-down menu.
  3. Navigate to the audio file you want to upload, then click Open.

You can also upload a folder of audio files to the Drive. To do this, click the New button and then select Folder upload.

Uploading audio to the Google Drive desktop app

If you have installed and set up Drive for desktop, you can upload audio to Google Drive in two ways.

1. Drag-and-drop method

Drag-and-drop files from your computer to the Google Drive desktop application.
  1. Go to This PC (or Finder in macOS), then open Google Drive.
  2. Go to My Drive and open the folder to which you want to transfer the audio file(s).
  3. Open the folder on your computer which contains the audio files.
  4. Drag and drop audio files into that folder from your computer.

2. Copy-paste method

Copy the file from your computer and paste it directly onto the desktop application.
  1. Navigate to the folder that contains the audio file(s).
  2. Select the audio file(s) and press Ctrl/Command + C.
  3. Go to the folder in Google Drive volume where you want to store the audio and press Ctrl/Command + V.

Uploading audio to Google Drive on the mobile app

There are two ways to upload audio to Google Drive from Android or iOS.

  1. Open the Drive app.
  2. Navigate to the folder where you want to upload the audio file(s).
  3. Tap add sign (+) on the bottom-right corner of your screen.
  4. Select Upload.
  5. Find and tap on the audio file(s) to start uploading.

  1. Select the audio you want to upload.
  2. Tap on Share.
  3. Find and select Drive.
  4. Select the destination folder and tap Save.

You will receive a notification after the audio has finished uploading.
