Slack conversations can move quickly and bury important messages. You should pin such items to ensure you can access them whenever possible.
Note that all workspace members with access to the channel can see all the pinned files and messages.
View Pinned Items on a Computer
- Go to Slack and launch your workspace.
Select the workspace you would like to use. - Select the channel or member’s direct inbox that contains the pinned messages. On the conversation header, click on the Pinned messages icon.
Select the channel and go to pinned items. - Slack will display the pinned items. Select the message you want to view.
Pick the message from the pinned items list. - If you want to unpin the item, hover over the message and click on the three vertical dots. Select Un-pin from channel from the pop-up.
Select Un-pin from channel. - Confirm you want to unpin the message or file by clicking Remove pinned item.

View Pinned Items on iPhone
- Launch Slack and go to the channel with the pinned messages.
Choose channel - Tap on the channel name.
Open channel settings. - Scroll down and select Pinned Messages.
Go to pinned messages. - Select the item you want to view.
List of pinned messages. - To unpin the item, click on the message. On the new page, click on the three vertical dots.

Choose to unpin an item. - Slack confirms unpinning the item.

View Pinned Items on Android
- Open Slack and go to the channel with the pinned messages.
Select the channel. - Tap on the channel name.
Open channel details. - Scroll down and select Messages.
Open the pinned messages. - Select the file or message you want to view from the pinned items list.
